Finnblast Oy, Known for Its High-Quality Shot Blasting Machines, Becomes Part of the Prodmac Group

In the future, the machinery used in the Finnish metal industry can be further automated through domestic expertise. A new market is opening up for surface treatment machines manufactured in Revonlahti, Siikajoki, thanks to strengthened sales resources.

Finnblast Oy and Prodmac Oy will henceforth work together to provide high-quality surface treatment solutions. Specializing in the import of metalworking equipment and lifecycle services for machinery, Prodmac—supported by Finnblast’s strong domestic automation expertise—will be able to serve metal fabricators and machine shops more comprehensively than ever before.

“Finnblast’s expertise enables the construction of various automated modules around the products we import. In the future, we will be able to build even more highly automated turnkey solutions for our customers ourselves,” says Mika Koivuniemi, owner of Prodmac Oy.

Finnblast, a nearly 40-year-old company specializing in shot blasting technology, has established a strong foothold in industries such as rail and paper. Shot blasting solutions designed and manufactured at the company’s factory in Revonlahti, Siikajoki, are used for surface treatment of locomotive and railcar axles and wheels, as well as paper machine rolls.

Continued Growth in Large-Scale Automation Projects

For Finnblast, the future together with Prodmac marks the beginning of a new era.

“This enables entirely new growth opportunities for us as a designer and manufacturer of special-purpose machinery. With increased sales resources from Prodmac, we will also gain better access to the domestic market with our own products,” says Seppo Koivuniemi, CEO of Finnblast Oy.

Approximately half of Finnblast’s revenue comes from exports, as its automation and hybrid blasting cabinets are delivered worldwide. One of the company’s best-selling and most innovative products is an automatic blasting cabinet used by rail industry maintenance companies.

In Prodmac’s own business, the share of large-scale automation projects has been increasing for years. Cooperation with a strong automation specialist therefore provides Prodmac with an even stronger foundation for growth.

Finnblast’s fully domestic production and operations will remain unchanged in Revonlahti. Work will continue with an uncompromising commitment to quality.

“For our personnel, security and positive future prospects are important. Thanks to the additional resources provided by Prodmac, we are stronger than ever and can develop our operations in a long-term and sustainable manner,” Seppo Koivuniemi states.
